
Markus Schuckert is an Assistant Professor in the School of Hotel and Tourism Management (SHTM),HongKong Polytechnic University. Prior to joining SHTM in 2012, he was Professor for Tourism and Transport Management and elected and interim Director of the Institute for Tourism and Leisure Research and School of Tourism at the University of Applied Sciences HTW Chur, Switzerland. Markus holds a Bachelor equivalent (Diplom-Betriebswirt (FH)) in Transport Management and Logistics from Heilbronn University (Germany), a Magister in Business Administration and a Doctorate in Economics and Social Sciences from University of Innsbruck (Austria). His research interests cover contemporary strategic management and marketing issues in tourism, hospitality and tourism such as social media marketing in Asia and Western networks, reputation management and revenues, and transport and destination accessibility.
Currently, Markus is contributing with publications to the related top-tier journals, on international conferences and edited books as well as with invited speeches to the community. After several years in marketing and consulting in mainly aviation and tourism as well as an entrepreneur, Markus started teaching related subjects in management schools in Austria, Germany and Switzerland. His research and teaching related visits take him around the world to schools currently China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Austria and Italy.
In terms of teaching technology, Markus is integrating learners engaging methods into his teaching and offering an outcome based blended learning approach in his on-campus and e-learning classes to enhance learning experience. He is serving on PolyU’s e-learning and MOOC committees.
